HX Series for Wall DisplaySystems

Proven Performance
Xi Graphics' Accelerated-X SW has, in the last fifteen years, earned a reputation as the fastest, most stable X Window System X servers and graphics drivers available. The HX Series is designed for wall display systems with a lot of monitor real estate in commercial, industrial, and government installations.

Large Systems Without Hassle
One new customer of the HX Series had spent over a year of frustration trying to get a nine-monitor system running with one video window using Xorg SW. Two weeks after contacting us, he was commissioning a 9-monitor system with four video windows and starting the installation of a second system.

NEW: HX on AIX
Using the GXT-135P IBM cards in Power5 systems, a major international company is using the HX Series for systems to monitor power distribution. Although we haven't tested it, the GXT-145P (a PCIe version of the 135P) should also work. Contact us if you have graphics requirements on your IBM Power Series not being satisfied by IBM or others.

Free Maintenance Support
Xi Graphics has provided free maintenance support, as well as free support for most kernels and platform updates, and has done so for the entire existence of the Company - over fifteen years. What this means to the user, is that Xi Graphics is cardful to only ship very good,high-quality software.

Free Downloadable Demos
Various standard system configurations are available - as Series "Editions" - for download and testing on your target systems. If a particular Edition satisfies your application needs, it may be licensed on-line with a credit card. A list of public demos available is further down the page, with links.

One or More "Stretched Desktops" (SLSs)
Often large Wall Display systems utilize a single logical screen (SLS) to "stretch" a desktop across some or all monitors/projectors. With the HX Series, there can be one or morer stretched desktops, along with some single monitor/projector xscreens, with up to six Video Windows scattered among them.

Super Large Projector Systems Deployed
The HX Series is being used by Xi Graphics customers to build an impressively large interactive system that has 48 pojectors that requires only one computer box to house the graphics cards and the Accelrated-X SW. Plans for a system with 91 projectors is on the drawing boards.

OS And Platform Choices
The HX Series is currently available on x86, SPARC, IBM Power platforms, and with Solaris, Linux, and AIX kernels, depending upon the GPU. Contact us with your system requirements - we may be able to pull the pieces together for you.

Special System Needs?
The HX Series SW is flexible, allowing special features to be quickly designed to fit new or unusual requirements. Contact us with our requirements.

Summit Series Licensing
All instances Summit Series SW are licensed to a computer system using node locking. License Keys from one system generally cannot be used on another system, even with the same graphics card or GPU.

Customers with large numbers and/or dispursed systems can obtain Maintenance Keys that will enable repaired systems to be brought on-line while a replacement permanent License Key is obtained.

There are a considerable number of configurations available in the HX Series. A few are available as public downloads that can be tested to provide examples of ease of installation, level of performance, and the stability of the SW.

The list of features shown on the left provide an indication of the large potential in the HX Series,

Currently, due to the nature of the appliations for which the HX Series was designed (wall displays), OpenGL is not yet offered. Should there be sufficient need for 3D for large displays, the capability could be added.

SPARC, and the IBM Power Series are supported with a limited selection of graphics hardware. More graphics GPUs/cards can be added if needed and the graphics chip register-level documentation necessary for full hardware acceleration is obtained from the chip manufacturer.

For more details on individual featues, see the Features section.

Some Demos of the HX Series Editions are available to the public for free download and testing. Links to those currently available are provided in the table to the right. Others will be added from time to time.

Graphics cards and GPUs that are currently supported in the HX Series are listed below. Other graphics hardware may be added as graphics chip documentation is made available to Xi Graphics.

There is a timer in the demos that will stop the X server about every 25 minutes, but it can be restarted any number of times.

For extended testing without interruption, qualified prospects may obtain an "Extended Testing License Key" that will allow the demo to operate for extended periods and then expire completely.

Xi Graphics' support begins with pre-sales help with configuration issues and other issues with installation of demos, etc.

Should your requirements include a different mixture of featurres, or optional feature not in the standard demos, contact us with your needs. We may be able to quickly generate a custom demo for you.

Permanent License Keys for Public Demos that satisfy your needs and requirements after testing can be purchased on-line or over the phone with a credit card. Keys are processed manually during normal work hours (Mountain Time, USA). Use the "BuyLicenseKey" menu button in the top bar for the procedure for ordering Keys.
