Xi Graphics' CDE Offers 'Turnkey' Network Desktop Solution
Denver -- Xi Graphics is pleased to announce the release of CDE Business Desktop, a complete networked operating system that enables systems administrators to integrate industry-standard PCs into existing Unix networkks with better internationalization and the same functionality as more expensive workstations.
"Intel-based PCs have become powerful enough to hold their own within a Unix network," explains Richard Van Dyke, Vice President of Marketing for Xi Graphics. "Our CDE Business Desktop running on an Intel PC will integrate seamlessly with an existing business network, giving sys admins a legitimate reason to add more cost-effective PCs to their enterprise -- without sacrificing budget, stability, performance, features, or functionality."
Xi Graphics President, Thomas Roell, adds: "With CDE Business Desktop, the cost of adding a seat to the network has just been cut by 75% or more."
Xi Graphics' CDE Business Desktop incorporates several enhancements, including the latest Accelerated-X Server, and the most comprehensive internationalization package available -- including all major European languages and Japanese.
CDE Business Desktop is easy to use, visually attractive, and allows users to customize their desktops to individual work styles and preferences without sacrificing administrative control over system configuration. It provides a common method of installing and integrating applications in a distributed multi-user environment. Software developers benefit from a consistent set of industry-standard APIs, including the X Window system, OSF Motif, direct manipulation (drag and drop) protocols, and common services for on-line help, application integration, and internationalization.
CDE Business Desktop is available at the list price of $299 within the U.S., with a small additional surcharge for international purchases. For more information, contact Xi Graphics at 303-298-7478 or visit their web site at www.xig.com.
